Section 195:1-1-2 - Board authority and purposes, composition and duties, quorum

(a) Upon statehood, the Board of Dentistry was created in Article 5 section 39 and required to be statutorily codified. The Oklahoma legislature has declared in 59 O.S. § 328.2 that dentistry in the state of Oklahoma affects the public health safety and welfare of its citizens. This Boardis duty bound by the Constitution and legislature to protect the public health, safety and welfare of all the people of Oklahoma through the powers vested in the Board as listed in 59 O.S. § 328.1 et. seq.

(b) The Oklahoma legislature has authorized and empowered the Board to enact Rules as may be necessary to regulate the practice of Dentistry, pursuant to 59 O.S. § 328.15.
