Section 303.5 - Prohibition on bicycle riding on the Atlantic Beach Bridge(a) Definitions. Whenever used in this Chapter, unless a different meaning clearly appears from the context, the terms herein shall be defined as follows: (1) Bicycle includes vehicles with two wheels, one in front of the other, having a saddle seat for the rider, steered by a handle bar and driven by pedals.(2) Roller skates includes a skate with small wheels instead of a runner for skating on a surface other than ice.(3) Scooter includes a vehicle that consists typically of a narrow footboard mounted between two wheels tandem with an upright handle attached to the front wheel that is operated by placing one foot on the footboard and pushing with the other foot.(4) Skateboard includes a vehicle that consists typically of a narrow footboard mounted between four small wheels that is operated by placing one foot on the footboard and pushing with the other foot.(b) Operation prohibited in certain areas. It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to ride or operate a bicycle, roller skates, scooter or skateboard upon the pedestrian walkway located on the western side of the Atlantic Beach Bridge within the Villages of Atlantic Beach and Lawrence.(c) Violations and penalties. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be a civil traffic offense punishable by a fine of not less than $50 nor more than $250 for each offense.N.Y. Comp. Codes R. & Regs.
