Section 8.321.11.32 - STAFF TRAININGA. Training for each new employee and volunteer who provides direct care shall include a minimum of 16 hours of training and be completed prior to providing unsupervised care to clients.B. At least 12 hours of on-going training shall be provided to staff that provides direct care at least annually; the training and proof of competency shall include at a minimum:(1) behavioral health interventions;(2) crisis interventions;(3) substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders;(4) withdrawal management protocols and procedures, if withdrawal management is provided;(5) clinical and psychosocial needs of the population served;(6) psychotropic medications and possible side effects;(7) ethnic and cultural considerations of the geographic area served;(8) community resources and services including pertinent referral criteria;(9) treatment and discharge planning with an emphasis on crisis stabilization;(10) fire safety and evacuation training;(11) safe food handling practices (for persons involved in food preparation), to include: (a) instructions in proper storage;(b) preparation and serving of food;(c) safety in food handling;(d) appropriate personal hygiene; and(e) infectious and communicable disease control.(12) confidentiality of records and client information;(15) reporting requirements for abuse, neglect or exploitation in accordance with Section 8.370.9 NMAC;(16) smoking policy for staff, clients and visitors;(17) methods to provide quality client care;(18) emergency procedures; and(19) adverse medication reactions;(20) the proper way to implement a crisis intervention plans.C.
