MICHAEL WELCH & KATHERINE B. WELCH, Petitioners v. COMMISSIONER OF INTERNAL REVENUE, Respondent

ORDER

Mark V. Holmes Judge.

This case was on the December 18, 2023 Los Angeles, California trial calendar. The parties recently reported that petitioners met their deadline to produce substantiating documents - apparently in sufficient volume that respondent's counsel asked for help from an IRS Revenue Agent. She took a look and said she'd need at least until the end of March 2024 to review all the documents. In a substantiation case, this means a bit more time is likely to lead to a settlement, and it is therefore

ORDERED that on or before May 7, 2024 the parties submit decision documents or file a joint status report describing their progress in moving toward settlement or narrowing the issues to be tried.
