ORDER

Federal defender Brian P. Mullins filed a motion to withdraw as counsel for defendant James J. Sanderson. Sanderson does not want Mullins as his attorney, and Mullins agrees that their relationship has eroded significantly.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but the erosion is due to Attorney Mullins's neglect of this case. Given Mullins's self-report of how he has handled matters, it is not surprising that Sanderson wants a new attorney. His request shall be granted. Attorney Mullins is removed from further proceedings in this case. The federal defender is directed to appoint a new attorney to represent Sanderson, after which the court will hold a telephonic status conference to discuss scheduling.
