Steven Weiser, Assistant U.S. Attorney Eastern District of New York, Brooklyn, N.Y., Counsel for USA.

David S. Zapp, Esq., Leonia, New Jersey, Defense Counsel.

MEMORANDUM AND ORDER

The court recommends to the Bureau of Prisons that defendant receive psychiatric and/or drug treatment. While, as the presentence report and transcript of sentencing suggest, defendant is a recidivist with the conduct of an ingrained social deviant, the court has the impression that he is highly intelligent and could be motivated to make substantial contributions to society while living lawfully.

His will not be an easy case to deal with since he actually was abused as a child and he does feel very sorry for himself and the way the world has treated him. The court does not believe he constitutes a risk to himself or other inmates. He could, however, easily become the butt of abuse by other inmates, particularly if he himself is not kept fully occupied. His case seems to bear close supervision.

SO ORDERED.
