ORDER
AND NOW, this 4th day of February, 2004, the Court determines that in order to provide for security and insulate the jury from possible news stories about this major drug case, the jury in this matter shall be sequestered during the trial to the following extent:
1. The U.S. Marshal shall make arrangements for the jury to stay together in a hotel or motel in the area of Easton, Pennsylvania.
2. The U.S. Marshal shall make arrangements to provide the jury with three daily meals and incidental items such as snacks and beverages.
3. The U.S. Marshal shall make arrangements for a large van or other suitable transportation for the jury to and from the motel and other locations.
4. The U.S. Marshal shall restrict the access of jurors to news concerning this trial and other stories about Reading, Pennsylvania, however, the jury shall be permitted to read newspapers and view and listen to radio and television programs which do not feature Reading news articles.
5. To carry out the purposes of this Order at least one U.S. Marshal shall be detailed to reside in the hotel or motel where the jury is sequestered and be present during meals.
6. The Clerk of Court is directed to provide funding to carry out the purposes of this Order.
7. No person shall attempt to speak with contact or otherwise influence any member of the jury in this case without the prior permission of this Court Jurors may, however, have daily contact with members of their immediate families and employers, providing they do not discuss this case.
8. The Court will enforce this Order with its contempt power.
