HABIB ULLAH, Petitioner v. COMMISSIONER OF INTERNAL REVENUE, Respondent

ORDER

Courtney D. Jones Judge.

This case was called and recalled from the calendar of the Court's April 24, 2023, trial session for New York City, New York. Both parties appeared and were heard. On April 10, 2023, respondent filed with the Court a status report addressing his difficulty in communicating with petitioner due to a language barrier. (Petitioner's primary language is Pashto.)

At calendar call, petitioner indicated that he does not speak English well and cannot afford an interpreter. Both parties agreed that the Court's assistance in obtaining an interpreter could be helpful in resolving the case. Further, with the assistance of volunteer counsel, petitioner made an oral Motion for Continuance. Upon due consideration, and for cause more fully appearing in the transcript of the proceedings, it is

ORDERED that the parties' oral Motion for Continuance is granted. It is further

ORDERED that, on or before July 25, 2023, the parties shall file a status report (jointly, if possible, otherwise separately) to inform the Court of the then-present status of this case. It is further

ORDERED that jurisdiction of this case is retained by the undersigned.
