Opinion
No. 05-17-00414-CV
06-19-2017
On Appeal from the 256th Judicial District Court Dallas County, Texas
Trial Court Cause No. DF-16-24110
MEMORANDUM OPINION
Before Chief Justice Wright, Justice Lang-Miers, and Justice Stoddart
Opinion by Chief Justice Wright
By letter dated May 17, 2017, the Court questioned its jurisdiction over this appeal as there does not appear to be a final judgment or other appealable order. We instructed appellant to file, by May 30, 2017, a letter brief addressing our concern and cautioned him that failure to comply may result in dismissal of the appeal without further notice. As of today's date, appellant has not filed a response.
In the notice of appeal, appellant states he is appealing from the associate judge's hearing held on March 23, 2017 stating the reason for the appeal as "did not get an outcome verdict." On May 3, 2017, the district clerk filed a letter informing the Court that no order from the hearing was signed. Without a signed order, there is nothing for this Court to review. See TEX. R. APP. P. 26.1 (time to file a notice of appeal runs from the date the judgment is signed). Accordingly, we dismiss the appeal for want of jurisdiction. See TEX. R. APP. P. 42.3(a).
