The Fla. Bar v. Johns

Supreme Court of Florida
Oct 10, 2023
No. SC2023-1212 (Fla. Oct. 10, 2023)

Opinion

SC2023-1212

10-10-2023

The Florida Bar, Petitioner(s) v. T. Lorraine Johns, Respondent(s)

NOT FINAL UNTIL TIME EXPIRES TO FILE REHEARING MOTION AND, IF FILED, DETERMINED.

Lower Tribunal No(s).: 2024-10,058 (6D) OSC

The Florida Bar filed a Petition for Contempt and Order to Show Cause alleging that Respondent T. Lorraine Johns has failed to respond to official Bar inquiries. This Court issued an Order to Show Cause directing Respondent to show why she should not be held in contempt and suspended until such time as she fully responded in writing to the official Bar inquiries. In her response, Respondent affirmed that she would respond to the inquiries. Thereafter, the Bar confirmed that Respondent has now responded to the inquiries, albeit not in a timely manner. The Court takes very seriously every attorney's obligation to completely and timely respond to inquiries made by The Florida Bar. Therefore, because Respondent did not respond to the inquiries in a timely manner, T. Lorraine Johns is hereby held in contempt and is hereby publicly reprimanded.

Judgment is entered for The Florida Bar, 651 East Jefferson Street, Tallahassee, Florida 32399-2300, for recovery of costs from T. Lorraine Johns in the amount of $1,250.00, for which sum let execution issue.

MUNIZ, C.J., and CANADY, LABARGA, COURIEL, GROSSHANS, FRANCIS, and SASSO, JJ., concur.
