Following the Supreme Court's decision in Connelly, the Missouri Court of Appeals for the Western District found Rinebold "to be invalid and not binding upon th[e] court as a viable precedent because of the ruling in Connelly." State v. Ferrell, 741 S.W.2d 712, 716 (Mo.App. 1987). In Ferrell, the defendant was arrested by the resident of the house he was attempting to burglarize, and he thereafter made incriminating statements to the resident.
