STATE OF LOUISIANA v. REGIS REMONE CHATMAN
In Re: Regis Remone Chatman, applying for supervisory writs, 22nd Judicial District Court, Parish of St. Tammany, No. 538,631. BEFORE: THERIOT, CHUTZ AND PENZATO, JJ.
WRIT GRANTED. The district court's November 6, 2017 ruling denying relator's application for postconviction relief, as being untimely and repetitive, is vacated and this matter is remanded to the district court to consider the merits of relator's application for postconviction relief. The records of the St. Tammany Parish Clerk's Office reflect that relator's application for postconviction relief was filed on November 3, 2017, and the filing was within one-year of the date relator's judgment of conviction and sentence became final under La. Code Crim. P. art. 922(D). See La. Code Crim. P. art. 930.8(A); State v. Chatman, 2015-0426 (La. App. 1st Cir. 9/21/15), 2015 WL 5546658 (unpublished opinion), writ denied, 2015-1898 (La. 11/15/16), 209 So.3d 788.
