STATE of Wisconsin ex rel. Edward C. COMPTON, Petitioner–Appellant, v. Wayne WIEDENHOEFT, Acting Administrator, Division of Hearings and Appeals, Respondent–Respondent.

(Emphasis added.) Thus, the statute makes clear that “there are two different procedures which can be used to commence certiorari review-a complaint procedure and a writ procedure.” State ex. rel DNR v. Walworth Cnty. Bd. of Adjustment, 170 Wis.2d 406, 415, 489 N.W.2d 631, 634 (Ct.App.1992). “[I]f an appellant employs the writ procedure, commencement of the appeal is measured by the act of serving the original writ, provided that a copy of the writ is filed ‘forthwith.’ ” Id., 170 Wis.2d at 416, 489 N.W.2d at 634–635.
