But it is also true that a person may under certain circumstances lawfully drive on the left side of the road and, when the circumstances show that a driver should be aware of that other drivers might be driving on the left side, that driver must exercise reasonable care when proceeding. See Smith v Whitehead, 342 Mich 542, 546-547; 70 NW2d 703 (1955). O'Keefe testified that he not only saw the utility trucks obstructing the westbound lanes, he himself passed them on the left just moments before the accident.
