DARYOUSH SAMEYAH & TRACEY SAMEYAH, Petitioners v. COMMISSIONER OF INTERNAL REVENUE, Respondent

ORDER

Mark V. Holmes Judge

This case was on the February 12, 2024 Los Angeles, California trial calendar. We spoke with the parties to discuss progress after getting a second motion for continuance, and both agreed that the major issue is a casualty-loss deduction from the 2017 tax year. Progress slowed and we spoke with the parties again on June 25 to identify a way forward that would be efficient. Petitioner's new lead counsel has pressed the accelerator and made rapid progress with respondent in informal discovery. The parties are contemplating a joint conversation with the insurance company. This case can stay on the status-report track for now, and it is

ORDERED that on or before September 12, 2024 the parties submit decision documents or file a joint status report to describe their progress.
