This case is set for remote trial at a time and date certain of Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. Eastern time, during the Court's March 28, 2022, Los Angeles, California, trial session. On March 21, 2022, petitioner filed a Motion for Continuance, representing that his "ongoing medical condition does not allow[] him to represent himself during the trial." On March 25, 2022, the Court held a conference call with the parties during which they agreed to continue the case and set it for trial during the Court's June 13, 2022, remote trial session. This is the fourth time the case has been continued. Absent extraordinary circumstances, the Court will not grant any further continuances in this case.
Respondent represents that he had served a subpoena on Valynn Currie, a nonparty witness, to seek her testimony at trial. Ms. Currie remains under subpoena for a trial to be held during the Court's June 13, 2022, trial session, which will be conducted remotely via Zoomgov. Upon due consideration, it is
ORDERED that petitioner's Motion for Continuance, filed March 21, 2022, is granted in that this case is stricken from the Court's March 28, 2022, Los Angeles, California, trial session and is continued. It is further
ORDERED that jurisdiction of this case is retained by the undersigned. It is further
ORDERED that this case is calendared for trial during the Court's June 13, 2022, remote trial session. The undersigned will be presiding. It is further
ORDERED that the Clerk of the Court shall serve on the parties: (1) a Notice of Remote Proceeding that shall contain comprehensive instructions on how to participate in the Court's June 13, 2022, remote trial session, and (2) a copy of the Standing Pretrial Order for that trial session. It is further
ORDERED that, in addition to regular service, the Clerk shall serve a copy of this Order as follows:
