ORDER
WHEREAS N.J.S.A. 2B:12-30(d)(3) authorizes the Administrative Office of the Courts to obtain hand-held, ticket-issuing, data entry devices and related equipment for use by approved parking authorities or parking agencies to facilitate the exchange of automated information and maintain the efficiency of the standardized statewide computer system; and the Administrative Office of the Courts has developed such devices and equipment under a program entitled the Parking Authority Ticket System;
Pursuant to N.J. Const. (1947), Art. VI, sec. 2, par. 3, it is ORDERED that, effective immediately and until further Order, Rules 1:4-4 and 7:2-1 of the Rules Governing the Courts of the State of New Jersey, are hereby relaxed and supplemented so as to permit the use of an electronic signature by any law enforcement officer or other person authorized to issue a parking ticket through the Parking Authority Ticket System in those municipalities that have implemented the Parking Authority Ticket System; and
It is FURTHER ORDERED that such electronic signature on a parking ticket issued under the Parking Authority Ticket System shall be equivalent to an original signature.
