On Appeal from the 213th District Court Tarrant County, Texas Trial Court No. 1824235, 1824236.
ORDER
PER CURIAM
On October 3, 2024, Trashuna Salaam, the official court reporter for the 213th District Court, certified to this court that she was unable to convert State's Exhibit No. 2 - CD: 911 Call (Redacted) "into a format and/or size compatible with the requirements of the TAMES portal, the Uniform Format Manual for Texas Reporters' Records, and Appendix C of the Rules of Appellate Procedure" for the following reason: "Inconvertible File Format." We therefore ordered the trial court clerk to deliver a copy of State's Exhibit No. 2 to us for review.
After we received State's Exhibit No. 2, court personnel reviewed it to determine whether the file on it could be uploaded to the TAMES records submission portal (RSP). State's Exhibit No. 2 is a CD-R disc that contains an audio recording of a 911 call. The audio recording is saved in a .cda file format and cannot be uploaded to the TAMES RSP in that format. The audio file can be opened with Windows Media Player (Microsoft) and then converted into an uploadable file format by "ripping" the file from the disc into a supported format using Windows Media Player, which is capable of converting .cda files into .mp3 and .wav file formats. Once converted into one of these supported file formats, the audio file on State's Exhibit 2 can be uploaded to the TAMES RSP.
This court's staff is willing to share technical knowledge with court reporters about these methods of converting exhibits to an electronic format that conforms to the size and format requirements of the TAMES RSP. But the responsibility of contacting court staff for this knowledge, and the obligation of uploading the reporter's record to the TAMES RSP, remains with the court reporter.
Accordingly, we will return the copy of State's Exhibit No. 2 to the trial court clerk, and we order court reporter Trashuna Salaam to upload the audio file contained on the exhibit to the TAMES RSP in compliance with the applicable rules no later than Monday, December 30, 2024.
We direct the clerk of this court to send a notice of this order to court reporter Trashuna Salaam, the attorneys of record, the trial court judge, and the trial court clerk.
