ORDER
The Court orders the foregoing Memorial Resolution spread of record upon the permanent records of this Court, and the Clerk of this Court is ordered to deliver a copy of said Memorial Resolution to West Publishing Company who is ordered to print and publish the same in the North Eastern Reporter.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the Clerk of this Court transmit a copy of said Memorial Resolution, under seal of this Court, to Mrs. Ruth Buchanan, Indianapolis, Indiana.

IN MEMORIAM HONORABLE PAUL H. BUCHANAN, Jr.
The following Resolution was adopted as a memorial to the late Paul H. Buchanan, Jr.
WHEREAS, the Honorable Paul H. Buchanan, Jr., a resident of Indianapolis, Indiana, was a Judge of the Court of Appeals of Indiana; and
WHEREAS, it is with deep regret that we note the passing of Judge Buchanan at age 90 on November 6, 2008; and
WHEREAS, Judge Buchanan was elected to the Court of Appeals of Indiana in 1970 and assumed office January 1, 1971, served as Chief Judge from March 3, 1978 to January 7, 1987, and retired on January 6, 1993; and
WHEREAS, Judge Buchanan received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Swarthmore College, Pennsylvania, in 1939 and his law degree from the University of Denver School of Law in 1948 and was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Indiana in 1949; and
WHEREAS, Judge Buchanan served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre during World War II, completing his service with the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade; served the people of Indiana in the private practice of law in Indianapolis as a sole practitioner from 1949 to 1955 and as a founding partner of Bose Buchanan McKinney Evans from 1955 through 1970; and
WHEREAS, Judge Buchanan was a Veteran, a member of the Meridian Street United Methodist Church, the Indianapolis Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Kiwanis Club of Indianapolis, the Columbia Club, the Columbia Club Foundation, Phi Delta Theta fraternity, the Indiana State Symphony Society, the Methodist Hospital Board of Trustees, Wabash College Board of Trustees, the Indianapolis Museum of Art (Lifetime trustee), the Indianapolis Bar Association (Past President), the American Bar Association, and the Indiana State Bar Association; and
WHEREAS, Judge Buchanan was married to Ruth Flint and leaves her surviving as his widow; and also is survived by two sons, Brian K. Buchanan and Bruce W. Buchanan, and one daughter, Lucinda Buchanan Pfeifer, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, his passing is a loss to his community, our State, his family, friends, and this Court.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Memorial Resolution be adopted by the Court of Appeals of Indiana and spread of record on the Order Book of this Court.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the members of this Court extend their sympathy to the widow, to the sons, daughter, family and friends of this able lawyer and jurist and that a copy of the Memorial Resolution, under seal of this Court, be sent to his widow, Mrs. Ruth Buchanan, Indianapolis, IN 46208.
