Santiago PEREZ, Appellant v. TEXAS WORKER'S COMPENSATION INSURANCE FUND, Appellee
From the 38th Judicial District Court, Medina County, Texas
Trial Court No. 99-05-14776-CV
The Honorable Camile G. Dubose, Judge Presiding
ORDER
The trial court signed a final judgment on June 8, 2000. Appellant's motion for new trial was due on or before July 8, 2000. The record shows, however, that appellant did not file a motion for new trial until May 1, 2002. Because appellant did not timely file a motion for new trial, motion to modify the judgment, motion for reinstatement, or request for findings of fact and conclusions of law, the notice of appeal was due to be filed on July 8, 2000. See TEX. R. APP. P. 26.1(a). A motion for extension of time to file the notice of appeal was due on July 23, 2000. See TEX. R. APP. P. 26.3. According to the record, appellant did not file his notice of appeal until April 19, 2017.
We, therefore, ORDER appellant to show cause in writing by June 12, 2017 why this appeal should not be dismissed for lack of jurisdiction. We suspend all appellate deadlines pending our determination of whether we have jurisdiction over this appeal.

Irene Rios, Justice
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of the said court on this 26th day of May, 2017.
