APPEAL from an order of the Superior Court of San Diego County, No. SCD123601 William H. Kronberger, Jr., Judge.
BENKE, Acting P. J.
Deno Eugene Woodis purports to appeal from a judgment declaring him to be a mentally disordered offender (MDO) and recommitting him to the California Department of Mental Health. He asks us to conduct an independent review of the record pursuant to People v. Wende (1979) 25 Cal.3d 436 (Wende), Anders v. California (1967) 386 U.S. 738 (Anders), and Conservatorship of Ben C. (2007) 40 Cal.4th 529 (Ben C.).
In Ben C., the California Supreme Court concluded that Wende and Anders procedures are not mandated in an appeal of a judgment for conservatorship of the person under the Lanterman-Petris-Short Act (Welf. & Inst. Code, § 5000 et seq.). In People v. Taylor (2008) 160 Cal.App.4th 304, the Second District Court of Appeal concluded that the analysis of Ben C. was equally applicable to MDO civil commitment proceedings. (Id. at pp. 308, 312-313.) We agree with the conclusion in Taylor that our independent review of the record is not required in MDO proceedings and decline to exercise our discretion to conduct such a review.
DISPOSITION
The appeal is dismissed.
