People v. Williams

Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of New York, First Department
Feb 22, 2000
269 A.D.2d 279 (N.Y. App. Div. 2000)

Opinion

February 22, 2000

Judgment, Supreme Court, New York County (Harold Beeler, J.), rendered February 2, 1996, convicting defendant, after a jury trial, of manslaughter in the first degree, and sentencing him to a term of 8 1/3 to 25 years, unanimously affirmed.

Jon Veiga, for respondent.

Frances A. Gallagher, for defendant-appellant.

WILLIAMS, J.P., TOM, SAXE, BUCKLEY, FRIEDMAN, JJ.

The verdict was based on legally sufficient evidence and was not against the weight of the evidence. We see no reason to disturb the jury's determinations concerning credibility, and find that there was ample evidence from which defendant's guilt can be readily inferred.

Motion seeking to file a pro se supplemental brief and for other related relief denied as unnecessary.

THIS CONSTITUTES THE DECISION AND ORDER OF SUPREME COURT, APPELLATE DIVISION, FIRST DEPARTMENT.
