APPEAL from a judgment of the Superior Court of San Diego County, Super. Ct. No. SCE281691, Peter C. Deddeh, Judge.
NARES, J.
Chikona Dirk Ward entered a negotiated guilty plea to grand theft (Pen. Code, § 487, subd. (c)) as a lesser included offense of robbery. Ward also admitted he had a prior serious/violent felony or strike conviction (§ 667, subds. (b)-(i)). The parties stipulated to a four-year prison term. The trial court sentenced Ward to four years in prison.
Statutory references are to the Penal Code.
The court denied Ward's request for a certificate of probable cause.
FACTS
On June 27, 2008, Ward hailed a taxi cab and incurred a fare of $145. Ward did not pay the fare and took cash from the taxi driver.
DISCUSSION
Appointed appellate counsel has filed a brief setting forth evidence in the superior court. Counsel presents no argument for reversal, but asks that this court review the record for error as mandated by People v. Wende (1979) 25 Cal.3d 436. Counsel has not referred us to any possible, but not arguable, issues pursuant to Anders v. California (1967) 386 U.S. 738.
We granted Ward permission to file a brief on his own behalf. He has not responded.
A review of the record pursuant to People v. Wende, supra, 25 Cal.3d 436 and Anders v. California, supra, 386 U.S. 738 has disclosed no reasonably arguable appellate issue. Competent counsel has represented Ward on this appeal.
DISPOSITION
The judgment is affirmed.
WE CONCUR: McCONNELL, P. J., HALLER, J.
Section 487 reads in pertinent part: "Grand theft is theft committed in any of the following cases: [¶]... [¶] (c) When the property is taken from the person of another."
