Gross negligence under Michigan common law "means wantonness and disregard of the consequences which may ensue." People v. Soares, 488 Mich. 918, N.W.2d 854, 855 (2010). "Wantonness, in turn, means conduct indicating that the actor is aware of the risks but indifferent to the results and usually suggests a greater degree of culpability than recklessness."
