  2. People v. Salem

    2016 Ill. App. 3d 120390 (Ill. App. Ct. 2016)   Cited 6 times
In Salem, "the jury received four times the amount of evidence for the uncharged crimes" as compared to the charged offenses.

¶ 39 This court issued a decision dismissing the appeal on the grounds that defendant's notice of appeal, filed on May 9, 2012, was not “timely.” Noting that defendant's motion for new trial was not timely filed within 30 days after the December 1, 2011, verdict, we concluded the untimely posttrial motion did not toll the time for filing a notice of appeal within 30 days of defendant's sentence on February 27, 2012. People v. Salem, 2014 IL App (3d) 120390–U, 2014 WL 5311375. Upon review, our supreme court exercised its supervisory authority to reinstate defendant's appeal and directed this court to vacate our prior decision dismissing the appeal and address the merits of the issues raised in defendant's appeal.
