Petition for Leave to Appeal Denied.

In the exercise of this Court's supervisory authority, the Appellate Court, First District, is directed to vacate its judgment in People v. Gomez, case No. 1-14-3269 (06/29/17). The appellate court is directed to consider the effect of this Court's opinions in People v. Buffer, 2019 IL 122327, and People v. Holman, 2017 IL 120655, on the issue of whether defendant's sentence constitutes a de facto life sentence in violation of the Eighth Amendment and Miller v. Alabama, 567 U.S. 460 (2012), and determine if a different result if warranted. The appellate court is also directed to consider the effect of this Court's opinion in People v. Johnson, 2018 IL 122227, on the issue of whether defendant was entitled to the reasonable assistance of counsel at the first stage of post-conviction proceedings, and determine if a different result is warranted.
