In People v. Druse (103 N.Y. 655) the judgment under review convicted the defendant of murder in the first degree, and the court said: "The rule is that after evidence has been given by a defendant, tending to show that the homicide was committed in self-defense, he may follow it by proof of the general reputation of the deceased for quarrelsomeness and violence.
