    The trial court sentenced Petitioner as a habitual offender to two years in prison for the felony firearm conviction, followed by concurrent sentences of two to ten years for the felon-in-possession conviction and fifty to seventy-five years for the murder conviction. Petitioner challenged his convictions and sentence in an appeal of right. The Michigan Court of Appeals affirmed his convictions and sentence in an unpublished opinion, see People v. Davis, No. 231512, 2003 WL 140010 (Mich.Ct.App. Jan. 17, 2003), and on July 28, 2003, the Michigan Supreme Court denied leave to appeal, see People v. Davis, 469 Mich. 865; 666 N.W.2d 670 (2003) (table). Petitioner signed and dated his habeas corpus petition on June 11, 2004.
