PEOPLE OF MICHIGAN v. MARCUS RONNELL CROFF

LC No. 17-009474-01-FC.

Michael J. Riordan Presiding Judge, Christopher M. Murray, Noah P. Hood Judges.

ORDER

The motion to waive fees is GRANTED for this case only.

The delayed application for leave to appeal is DENIED for lack of merit in the grounds presented. Although defendant is correct that the trial court was mistaken concerning the specific decision that defendant sought to challenge in his motion for reconsideration, the trial court's mistake in that regard was a direct result of defendants' failure to adequately explain or set forth any of the relevant dates and procedural history. A purported error to which the appellant contributed, either by plan or negligence, cannot warrant reversal. People v Jordan, 275 Mich.App. 659, 666; 739 N.W.2d 706 (2007). Moreover, "we will not reverse where the trial court reached the right result for a wrong reason." People v Biller, 239 Mich.App. 590, 595 n 4; 609 N.W.2d 199 (2000). Even assuming, arguendo, that defendant's motion for reconsideration under MCR 2.119(F) somehow represented a proper means of challenging the court clerk's decision to reject defendant's proposed filing, that filing was properly rejected for captioning defects under MCR 1.109(D)(1)(b)(iii) and (vi). See MCR 8.119(C).
