D. Post-Trial Proceedings On March 14, 2005, the California Supreme Court affirmed Panah’s conviction and sentence, People v. Panah, 35 Cal.4th 395, 25 Cal.Rptr.3d 672, 107 P.3d 790 (2005), and the United States Supreme Court subsequently denied certiorari, Panah v. California, 546 U.S. 1216, 126 S.Ct. 1432, 164 L.Ed.2d 135 (2006). About a year later, the California Supreme Court summarily denied Panah’s first habeas petition.
