NOTICE AND ORDER GRANTING EX PARTE PETITION FOR ISSUANCE OF
Carole R. Richelieu for petitioner on the petition
RECIPROCAL DISCIPLINE NOTICE PURSUANT TO RSCH RULE 2.15
Upon consideration of Petitioner Office of Disciplinary Counsel's (Petitioner ODC) ex parte petition for issuance of reciprocal discipline notice to Respondent Paul Dennis Edmondson (Respondent Edmondson), and the memorandum, affidavit, declaration, and exhibits attached thereto, it appears that, on May 29, 2002, the Supreme Court of Washington suspended Respondent Edmondson from the practice of law in Washington for twenty-one days based on a February 25, 2002 stipulation between Respondent Edmondson and the Washington State Bar Association. Under these circumstances, Rule 2.15(b) of the Rules of the Supreme Court of the State of Hawai`i (RSCH) requires us to issue a notice and order that we will impose identical discipline in the State of Hawai`i unless Respondent Edmondson can show cause under RSCH Rule 2.15(c) as to why we should not impose identical discipline. Therefore,
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that the petition is granted and Respondent Edmondson shall, pursuant to RSCH Rule 2.15(c), inform this court within thirty (30) days from service of this notice, of his claim(s) and the reason(s) therefor as to why identical discipline in the State of Hawai`i would be unwarranted.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that, because Respondent Edmondson appears to be outside the State of Hawai`i, Petitioner ODC shall, in accordance with the service requirements of RSCH Rule 2.11, serve upon Respondent Edmondson, by certified mail, at the address shown on his 2003 registration statement or at any address known to Petitioner ODC (1) a copy of this notice and order, (2) a copy of the Supreme Court of Washington's May 29, 2002 order, and (3) a copy of Respondent Edmondson and the Washington State Bar Association's February 25, 2002 stipulation.
