DONALD S. MCREYNOLDS, Petitioner v. COMMISSIONER OF INTERNAL REVENUE, Respondent

ORDER

Mark V. Holmes, Judge

This case is on the Court's May 1, 2023 San Francisco, California trial calendar. It's based on third-party records of income reported to the IRS from numerous trades in a virtual currency. Petitioner seems not to have kept records of what he paid for what he later sold, and the IRS's calculation of his tax owed is without that information. The Commissioner moved without opposition on April 14 for a continuance. He promises to use this extra time to subpoena records from Coinbase.com. This should enable the parties to settle, and it is

ORDERED that respondent's April 14, 2023 motion for a continuance is granted in that this case is stricken from the Court's May 1, 2023 San Francisco trial calendar. It is also

ORDERED that this division of the Court retains jurisdiction. It is also

ORDERED that on or before July 17, 2023 respondent shall file a status report describing the parties' progress toward settlement and, in particular, respondent's progress in subpoenaing Coinbase.com's records important to this case.
