On August 14, 2024, pursuant to the Court's February 20, 2024, Order, the parties filed a Joint Status Report, apprising the Court of the then present status of these consolidated cases. The parties report that recently a petition was filed in a case related to petitioners' purported micro-captive insurance transaction-Las Vegas Urology, LLP v. Commissioner, Docket No. 14418-23; this related case involves the subsequent 2018 taxable year and is currently before the Internal Revenue Service Independent Office of Appeals (Appeals) for settlement consideration. The parties also report that on July 31, 2024, an Appeals conference was held with respect to the related case, during which the assigned Appeals officer requested some additional documentation and engaged in some additional fact findings, but the parties also discussed a potential settlement. According to the parties, petitioners' counsel in the above-captioned consolidated cases, who is also the attorney of record in the related case, is optimistic that a settlement with Appeals can be reached in the related case. Finally, the parties report that should a settlement be reached with Appeals in the related case, they believe that they can use that settlement as a guide to settle the above-captioned consolidated cases. Upon due consideration, it is hereby
ORDERED that the parties shall, on or before February 18, 2025, electronically submit to the Court agreed stipulated decision documents or file status reports, separately or jointly, apprising the Court of the then present status of these cases.
