Thomas W. Langlois Petitioner v. Commissioner of Internal Revenue Respondent

ORDER

Patrick J. Urda, Judge.

This case is currently set for trial on the Court's March 14, 2022, Chicago, Illinois, special session. The Court held a conference call with the parties on February 15, 2022, and again on February 17, 2022, to discuss the status of this case.

During the calls, petitioner Thomas W. Langlois indicated that he recently received documentation from his former representative and asked for the continuance of the trial date. Respondent's counsel objected, noting the long pendency of this case and the lack of meaningful progress over the last two years. We will grant a short extension of time to Mr. Langlois and convert this trial to a remote proceeding over Zoomgov.

The standing pretrial order that we issued on October 13. 2021, when scheduling this trial remains in force. The parties are expected to file, inter alia, pretrial memoranda three weeks before the revised trial date (i.e., March 9, 2022), the stipulation and proposed trial exhibits two weeks before the revised trial date (i.e., March 16), and any supplemental stipulations one week before the revised trial date (March 23). If a party has previously filed one of these documents in anticipation of a previous trial date, the party is not required to re-file to satisfy the standing order with respect to the revised trial date.

ORDERED that this case is stricken from the Court's March 14, 2022, Chicago, Illinois, special trial session. It is further

ORDERED that this case is set for trial during the Court's March 30, 2022, Washington, D.C., special hearing session to be conducted remotely at a time and date certain of 3:30 p.m. (Eastern time) on Wednesday, March 30, 2022. The parties are expected to appear via Zoomgov at that time. Should Mr. Langlois fail to appear on this remote proceeding, the Court may dismiss this case for lack of prosecution. Judge Patrick J. Urda will preside at the aforementioned trial. It is further

ORDERED that the Clerk of the Court shall serve on the parties a Notice of Remote Proceeding that shall contain comprehensive instructions on how to participate in the above-referenced remote proceeding.

This Order constitutes official notice of its contents to the parties.
