On Appeal from the 354th District Court Hunt County, Texas
Trial Court No. 31463 Before Morriss, C.J., Moseley and Burgess, JJ.
MEMORANDUM OPINION
Christopher Dale Jones was convicted by a Hunt County jury in this case of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and assessed a punishment of ten years' confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Correctional Institutions Division. This case was tried with two companion cases, which are the subject of other appeals pending before this Court. Jones filed a single, consolidated brief covering the three appeals, in which he contends that the trial court erred in admitting a letter he sent to one of the victims and that he was given ineffective assistance of counsel at trial.
See TEX. PENAL CODE ANN. § 22.02(a)(2) (West 2011).
In his companion cause numbers, 06-17-00071-CR and 06-17-00072-CR, Jones appeals from his convictions of two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The argument raised in this appeal is based exclusively on the argument brought before this Court in the companion appeal styled Jones v. State, cause number 06-17-00071-CR. In our opinion of this date disposing of that appeal, we found (1) that Jones did not preserve the complaint asserted on appeal regarding the admission of the letter and (2) that he has not shown that his trial counsel's assistance was ineffective. For the reasons set out in that opinion, we overrule Jones' issues as they apply to this appeal.
We affirm the judgment of the trial court.
