Before this Court is Appellees/Cross-Appellants' emergency motion to expedite record deadline and briefing schedule, and to bifurcate record deadline. The motion is GRANTED in part.

This is an appeal from an election contest arising from the November 2022 general election. Per the trial court's order, entered on January 19, 2024, the reporter's record in this cause is due in two parts. The reporter's record for the trial is due on or before February 5, 2024, and the remainder of the reporter's record is due on or before February 15, 2024.

Appellees/Cross-Appellants request an abbreviated briefing schedule for the submission of the records and briefs in this cause. The deadlines for both portions of the records will remain as set by the trial court. This Court fully expects that the court reporters, collectively, will work together to ensure that the records in this cause are timely filed as ordered by the trial court. The briefing schedule will be accelerated as follows: the Appellants' and Appellants/Cross-Appellees' opening briefs are due to be filed on or before February 26, 2024, and each brief thereafter is due within ten days after the date the preceding brief is due as follows.

See TEX. R. APP. P. 38.6 (a), (b) (providing a twenty-day deadline for filing briefs in an accelerated appeal); see also TEX. R. APP. P. 38.6 (d) (providing for adjusting in the time for filing briefs).
