Summary
In People v. Ladew, 190 N.Y. 544, on reargument, when the question was pointedly presented, the Court of Appeals directly so held, saying: "that such record (not the deed) was ineffective as against the defendant in this action in reference to the particular land which is the subject of the litigation," but not in reference to unoccupied lands.
