John E. Jacobson Petitioner v. Commissioner of Internal Revenue Respondent

ORDER

MARK V. HOLMES JUDGE

This case is on the March 22, 2022 St. Paul, Minnesota trial calendar, and respondent moved without objection on February 15, 2022 for a continuance because petitioner's lawyer died suddenly a few weeks ago. We spoke with the parties on February 28, 2022 to check on progress and see if Mr. Jacobson would aim to get a new lawyer or proceed by himself. He reasonably wants to try to get a new lawyer and may well qualify for help from a low-income taxpayer clinic. He promised to call the University of Minnesota's clinic. He promised to call the clinic and report to the IRS if he has been successful. Moving this case to settlement or trial may take a while and it is therefore

ORDERED that respondent's February 15, 2022 motion is granted in that this case is stricken from the Court's March 22, 2022 trial calendar. It is also

ORDERED that this division of the Court retains jurisdiction. It is also

ORDERED that on or before March 14, 2022 respondent shall file a status report to describe petitioner's progress in seeking representation.
