WRIT GRANTED WITH ORDER. The trial court's judgment granting the Motion for Judgment Notwithstanding the Verdict, which was signed on April 10, 2018, is a final and appealable judgment. See La. Code Civ. P. art. 1811; Pitts v. Louisiana Med. Mut. Ins. Co., 2016-1232 (La. 3/15/17), 218 So.3d 58, 65, reh'g denied, (5/1/17). Therefore, the writ application is granted for the limited purpose of remanding the matter to the trial court with instructions to grant Applicant, Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections, an appeal pursuant to the March 19, 2018 Notice of Intention to Seek Supervisory Writs. See In re Howard, 541 So.2d 195 (La. 1989) (per curium). In the event Applicant seeks to appeal the trial court's judgment, it shall submit an order for appeal to the trial court within fourteen days of this court's order. Additionally, a copy of this court's order is to be included in the appellate record.
