ORDER
The Court orders the foregoing Memorial Resolution spread of record upon the permanent records of this Court, and the Clerk of this Court is ordered to deliver a copy of said Memorial Resolution to West Publishing Company who is ordered to print and publish the same in the North Eastern Reporter.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the Clerk of this Court transmit a copy of said Memorial Resolution, under seal of this Court, to Pamela A. Young, 1091 E. IN MEMORIAM HONORABLE JAMES B. YOUNG
The following Resolution was adopted as a memorial to the late James B. Young.
WHEREAS, the Honorable James B. Young, a resident of Naples, Florida, was a Judge of the Court of Appeals of Indiana; and
WHEREAS, it is with deep regret that we note the passing of Judge Young at age 70 on August 29, 1998; and
WHEREAS, Judge Young was appointed to the Court of Appeals of Indiana on August 1, 1978, retained by the electorate in November, 1980, and served until his retirement in 1988; and
WHEREAS, Judge Young received his undergraduate degree from Franklin College and his law degree from Indiana University School of Law — Bloomington in 1955 and was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Indiana the same year; and
WHEREAS, Judge Young served in the U.S. Army Counter Intelligence Corps from 1951 to 1953; served the people of Indiana as the City Attorney for the City of Franklin, Indiana from 1958 to 1962, as County Attorney for Johnson County from 1966 to 1975, as State Senator from 1966 to 1970, as Special Assistant to the Governor for Legislative Affairs from 1973 to 1975, and in the private practice of law from 1955 to 1975; was appointed the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana in 1975 and reentered the private practice of law in 1977; and
WHEREAS, Judge Young was a Korean War Veteran, a life member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, a member of the American Judicature Society and Association of Former United States Attorneys, a member of the Indianapolis, Johnson County (President in 1967), 7th Circuit, Florida, and Indiana State Bar Associations, and was named a Sagamore of the Wabash by Governor Otis Bowen; and
WHEREAS, Judge Young is survived by Pamela Auxter Young, three daughters, Melinda Finlinson, Sarah Henry, Carrie Bryson, a son, Dr. Matthew Young, five grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, his passing is a loss to his community, our State, his family, friends, and this Court.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Memorial Resolution be adopted by the Court of Appeals of Indiana and spread of record on the Order Book of this Court.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the members of this Court extend their sympathy to Pamela A. Young and to the daughters, son, family and friends of this able lawyer and jurist and that a copy of the Memorial Resolution, under seal of this Court, be sent to Pamela A. Young and to his daughters and son.
