In the Interest of W.T., III, a Child

On Appeal from the 314th District Court Harris County, Texas
Trial Court Cause No. 2016-00500J

ORDER

This is an accelerated appeal from a judgment in a suit in which the termination of the parent-child relationship is at issue ("parental termination case"). Both appellants (S.L.K. and W.T., Jr.) are represented on appeal by Paul LaValle. The record does not reflect if LaValle is appointed or retained. Appellants' brief was due April 28, 2017. No brief has been filed.

Accordingly, we order appellants' brief to be filed by May 11, 2017. If LaValle is retained and no brief is filed by that date, the court will dismiss the appeal for want of prosecution. See Tex. R. App. P. 42.3(b). If LaValle is appointed and no brief is filed by that date, LaValle may be required to show cause why he should not be held in contempt of court. In addition, the court may require appointment of new counsel due to the failure to timely file appellants' brief.

We previously ordered appellants to file an amended notice of appeal to reflect an appeal from the final judgment. The amended notice of appeal was due by April 24, 2017. No amended notice has been filed. If an amended notice of appeal is not filed by May 11, 2017, the court will consider dismissal of this appeal for lack of jurisdiction. See Tex. R. App. P. 42.3(a).
