In the Matter of W.A.

313th District Court of Harris County Trial court case number: 2022-00681J & 2022-00682J

ORDER

April Farris, Judge

Appellant, W.A, filed a notice of appeal from the trial court's February 7, 2023 Order to Waiver Jurisdiction in each of the underlying trial court case numbers. Appellant's brief was due to be filed with the Court on or before April 4, 2023. See TEX. R. APP. P. 38.6(a). On April 4, 2023, appellant, through counsel, filed an unopposed motion for extension of time to file his appellant's brief. In the motion, appellant requests that the deadline for filing his appellant's brief be extended to April 24, 2023.

Appellant's motion states that all parties are unopposed to the relief requested. See TEX. R. APP. P. 10.3(a)(1), (2). Accordingly, appellant's motion is granted. Appellant's brief is due to be filed on or before April 24, 2023. Because this appeal involves the certification of a juvenile to stand trial as an adult, this Court is required to bring the appeal to final disposition within 180 days of February 23, 2023, the date the notice of appeal was filed, so far as reasonably possible. See TEX. FAM. CODE ANN. § 56.01(h); Order Accelerating Juvenile Certification Appeals and Requiring Juvenile Courts to Give Notice of the Right to an Immediate Appeal, Misc. Docket No. 15-9156 (Tex. Aug. 28, 2015). Accordingly, no further extensions of time will be granted absent extraordinary circumstances.

It is so ORDERED.
