Opinion

No. 05-06-00931-CV

Opinion Issued July 26, 2006.

Original Proceeding from the 194th Judicial District Court Dallas County, Texas.

Writ of Mandamus Denied and Writ of Prohibition Dismissed;

Before Justices Moseley, Bridges, and Francis.

MEMORANDUM OPINION

Relator seeks mandamus review of the trial court's denial of his rights to a speedy trial, due process and to act as his own counsel. Relator's petition does not comply with the requirements for filing a petition for writ of mandamus. Accordingly, relator's petition for writ of mandamus is DENIED. See Tex.R.App.P. 52.3 and 52.8(a).

Additionally, relator requests the Court grant a writ of prohibition against Dallas County Criminal District Attorney Bill Hill and members of his staff. This Court may issue a writ of prohibition necessary to enforce its jurisdiction. See Tex. Gov't Code Ann. § 22.221(a) (Vernon 2004). Our jurisdiction to issue a writ of prohibition is limited to cases in which this Court has actual jurisdiction of a pending proceeding. See In re Nguyen, 155 S.W.3d 191, 194 (Tex.App.-Tyler 2003, orig. proceeding). Relator makes no claim or statement regarding a need to enforce the jurisdiction of this Court. Accordingly, we DISMISS relator's petition for writ of prohibition for want of jurisdiction. Id.
