ORDER

The instant matter is before the Court on its own motion. After due consideration, the Court finds the Rules and Regulations Governing Certified Court Reporters shall be amended as set forth in Exhibit A.
IT IS THEREFORE ORDERED that the Rules and Regulations Governing Certified Court Reporters are amended as set forth in Exhibit A. The amendment is effective immediately.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the Clerk of this Court shall spread this Order upon the minutes of the Court and shall forward a true copy hereof to West Publishing Company for publication in the next edition of the Mississippi Rules of Court and in the Southern Reporter, Third Series (Mississippi Edition).

EXHIBIT A
I. Definitions
(U) Official Court Reporter. A competent and properly licensed court reporter who has been appointed by a circuit, chancery, or county court judge in his/her county or district by entry of an order to that effect upon the minutes of the court to make a verbatim record of testimony or proceedings relevant to matters under the jurisdiction of the courts of the State of Mississippi, all state agencies, or the Legislature or any committee or subcommittee thereof, or where appeal to any court of the State of Mississippi is allowable by law. That reporter shall be known as the official court reporter of said district or county, shall be a full-time employee, and may not engage in any freelance reporting activities. However, an official court reporter may assist with reporting duties in another State court, or the Mississippi Workers' Compensation Commission, for which he/she may receive compensation, including mileage. Such work may be undertaken only with the express approval of his/her supervising judge, when his/her attendance is not required in the court of appointment, and when he/she has no delinquent appellate work.
