Summary of Misconduct:

Mr. Loren, who was licensed in 1983, was disbarred on consent. While serving as counsel to the Illinois Teachers' Retirement System, he prepared sham contracts designed to make kickbacks appear to be legitimate business payments. He later pled guilty to federal charges of corruptly endeavoring to obstruct and impede the due administration of the internal revenue laws.


Order of the Court:

The motion by Steven L. Loren to strike his name from the roll of attorneys licensed to practice law in Illinois pursuant to Supreme Court Rule 762(a) is allowed, effective immediately.

Thomas, C.J., took no part.
