IN THE INTEREST OF L.L.B., a Child
From the County Court at Law, Medina County, Texas Trial Court No. 20-03-7912-CCL Honorable Mark Cashion, Judge Presiding
ORDER
LIZA A RODRIGUEZ, JUSTICE
This court does not have jurisdiction to review contempt orders by appeal. Norman v. Norman, 692 S.W.2d 655, 655 (Tex. 1985). Because it appeared that appellant was appealing a contempt order, we issued a show cause order. Appellant responded to our show cause order, explaining that she does not intend to challenge the contempt part of the trial court's order but rather the part of the order that allegedly changes the division of property awarded in the divorce decree. Accordingly, we retain this appeal on the court's docket. See Owsley v. Owsley, No. 13-18-00636-CV, 2022 WL 16842689, at *2 (Tex. App.-Corpus Christi-Edinburg Nov. 10, 2022, no pet.) (addressing only non-contempt complaints in an appeal from a judgment granting a motion to enforce a final divorce decree). However, this court may re-consider its jurisdiction over this appeal in the future.
The suspension of appellate deadlines is LIFTED. The clerk's record and the reporter's record are due on or before October 2, 2023. Appellant's motion to extend the deadline to file her amended notice of appeal and her docketing statement, and to pay the filing fee for this appeal is GRANTED.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of the said court on this 18th day of September 2023.
