IN THE INTEREST OF L.H.H., A CHILD
From the 456th District Court, Guadalupe County, Texas Trial Court No. 23-1292-CV-E Honorable Thomas Nathaniel Stuckey, Judge Presiding
ORDER
PER CURIAM
This is an accelerated appeal of the trial court's order terminating appellant's parental rights. The disposition of this appeal is governed by the standards set forth in Rule 6.2 of the Texas Rules of Judicial Administration. Tex. R. Jud. Admin. 6.2. Accordingly, this appeal is required to be brought to final disposition within 180 days of the date the notice of appeal was filed. Id.
Appellant's brief was originally due to be filed on July 11, 2024. On July 31, 2024, we granted appellant's second motion for an extension of time and extended the deadline for appellant to file his brief to August 5, 2024. We stated in our order extending the deadline, "no further requests for extension of time will be allowed absent extraordinary circumstances" (emphasis removed).
To date, appellant has not filed a brief or a further request for an extension of time. It is therefore ORDERED that appellant's appointed appellate attorney, Summer Benford, file appellant's brief in this appeal no later than August 19, 2024. If the brief is not filed by such date, this appeal will be abated to the trial court for a hearing to determine if new appellate counsel should be appointed and to consider whether sanctions should be imposed against Ms. Benford for failing to timely file appellant's brief.
It is so ORDERED
