ORIGINAL PROCEEDING FROM WILLIAMSON COUNTY

MEMORANDUM OPINION

Relator Jimmy Jay Jensen, proceeding pro se, filed a petition for writ of mandamus seeking to compel the trial court to rule on his motion to dismiss two criminal cases. This Court requested documentation from the district clerk's office regarding the case and received confirmation from the clerk's office that the State moved for dismissal on both cases and that the trial court granted the State's motions and dismissed the cases on May 31, 2016.

Based on the foregoing, we conclude that this mandamus proceeding has been rendered moot. See In re Kellogg Brown & Root, Inc., 166 S.W.3d 732, 737 (Tex. 2005) ("A case becomes moot if a controversy ceases to exist between the parties at any stage of the legal proceedings."); State Bar of Tex. v. Gomez, 891 S.W.2d 243, 245 (Tex. 1994) (for controversy to be justiciable, there must be real controversy between parties that will be resolved by judicial relief sought). Accordingly, this Court dismisses this mandamus proceeding as moot. See Tex. R. App. P. 52.8(a).
