Opinion
No. 04-20-00135-CV

From the 131st Judicial District Court, Bexar County, Texas
Trial Court No. 2019-PA-00260
Honorable Charles E. Montemayor, Judge Presiding
ORDER
On February 27, 2020, the trial court signed an interlocutory order terminating Appellant's rights to her children. On March 3, 2020, Appellant filed a notice of appeal. After Appellant failed to respond to our order to show cause why the appeal should not be dismissed, we dismissed the appeal for want of jurisdiction.
On May 22, 2020, Appellant filed a motion for extension of time to file a notice of appeal. In an affidavit, Appellant's counsel advised this court that the trial court signed a final order on March 26, 2020, but because of the COVID-19 and courts of appeals ransomware attack disruptions, Appellant did not learn of the final order until May 20, 2020.
Appellant's motion for extension of time to file a notice of appeal is GRANTED. See Seventeenth Emergency Order Regarding the COVID-19 State of Disaster, Misc. Docket No. 20-9071 (Tex. May 26, 2020) (authorizing courts of appeals to "modify or suspend any and all deadlines and procedures, whether prescribed by statute, rule, or order, for a stated period ending no later than September 30, 2020").
Appellant's notice of appeal is due on June 30, 2020.
