Summary of Misconduct:

Mr. Hopt was licensed in Illinois in 1977 and in Washington in 1982. The Washington Supreme Court suspended him for three years for neglecting a client matter, failing to communicate with the client, failing to segregate client funds, and not refunding unearned fees. The Illinois Supreme Court imposed reciprocal discipline and suspended him for three years.


Order of the Court:

The petition by the Administrator of the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission to impose reciprocal discipline pursuant to Supreme Court Rule 763 is allowed, and respondent Larry W. Hopt, who has been disciplined in the State of Washington, is suspended from the practice of law in the State of Illinois for three years, effective immediately.

Respondent Larry W. Hopt shall reimburse the Disciplinary Fund for any Client Protection payments arising from his conduct prior to the termination of the period of suspension.
